Lao & Tie, Pt. 2 with #TheLaoTieGuy

When I was young, I was fascinated by men who wore ties. Sophisticated, well-groomed, gentleman was someone I wanted to be, but I had no idea where to start. When I wore ties, they were either pre-tied or my grandmother tied them for me. It wasn't until after high school that I mastered the art of tie-tying. Soon after, I'd venture into suiting and styling myself with other accessories like bow ties and pocket squares. Recognizing this gap, paired with the growing fusion of business- and street-wear, I decided to build a workshop that taught people of all ages and backgrounds how to make, tie, and style neckties and bow ties.

In the most recent "Lao & Tie" workshop, in partnership with Laos In The House, City of Philadelphia Mural Arts, and Southeast by Southeast, participants learned how to tie and style ties. In pairs, they tied ties (neck and bow) and styled pocket squares on one another. Our session wrapped up with business dress tips, including suit and shirt color selection, tie care, and accessory styling.

Peace,
